Are you interested to know more about how I started blogging?
My name is Scotti, and I am a female solo traveler.
I am the woman behind The Tiny Traveler! I am 23 years old, and I have been an expat abroad for a few years now- all of which I have been navigating as a solo woman.
People are often surprised to see such a petite girl country-hopping alone (I am not even 5 feet tall (this is 150 cm for my metric-using friends)) and tell me that I am brave. I make friends with local women who see me and say, “I could never do that.” When I ask why, the typical answer is that they are scared to go alone.
To anyone out there dreaming of exploring the world: You can do it, and you don’t have to wait for anyone else.
I created this blog to show others that solo travel as a woman is completely possible, no matter how young or how old. Whether you are an experienced globetrotter or you looking to plan your first solo trip, this is a place where we can all empower each other.
The life skills and confidence I have gained as a solo traveling woman has changed my life for the better. Every challenge I’ve faced as taught me something more valuable about myself.

How did I start traveling?
“The journey of a lifetime begins with a single step, and I promise it’s worth taking.”
At 17 years old, I left home to pursue an undergraduate degree in Tourism in Florida. During university, I started my first business in the cosmetics industry. This gave me a little extra financial freedom to travel as a college student, and I went on my first solo trips around the USA.
Having this new taste of freedom and confidence, I craved something more extreme, and took my first solo trip abroad to the Galapagos Islands in Ecuador. After graduating in 2022, I briefly continued my job in cosmetics before leaving to visit Southeast Asia. I thought this trip would only be three weeks.
As the way life goes… I never looked back. It only took me one week to cancel my flight home. Since then, I have been traveling and living abroad full-time. I now reside in Taipei, Taiwan!
I have worked hard to be where I am today and have been blessed with countless profound experiences from the people and the places I’ve visited.
I’ve heard it all and seen it all.
I’ve been proposed to in the Philippines. I’ve fallen ill with dengue fever in Indonesia while living with locals in rural Central Java. I’ve prayed and meditated with monks at a Vipassana temple in Thailand. I’ve gone on countless border runs to Laos and been interrogated at a trade office regarding my unusual passport history in Taiwan. Over everything, choosing to truly live my life over existing has been my greatest lesson and joy.
Through this blog, I want to show other women that they can do this too- and even better than I have! I share all my tried-and-true tips for culturally immersive and off-the-beaten-path travel, and my experiences working as a foreign teacher abroad. Everything from must-try street foods to overcoming language barriers, this blog voices my tell-all truths based off of my firsthand experiences!
